  오늘 아침에 일어나보니 이런 소식이, 현지시각 12일 CNN 등 외신은 스탠리 마블 코믹스 명예회장 스탠리가 사망했다고 보도했습니다. 스텐리의 SNS에 올라온 사진 한장에는 검은 바탕에 1922-2018(스탠리 출생-사망 연도)'이라는 숫자와 함께 'Excelsior라는 단어가 적혀있다. Excelsior는 더욱 더 높이라는 뜻으로 스탠 리가 언론과의 인터뷰 등에서 자주 사용했던 말입니다.

  Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber /ˈliːbər/, December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018) was an American comic-book writer, editor, and publisher. He was editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, and later its publisher and chairman, leading its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation. In collaboration with several artists—particularly Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko—he co-created fictional characters including Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther, the X-Men, and—with co-writer Larry Lieber—the characters Ant-Man, Iron Man, and Thor. In doing so, he pioneered a more complex approach to writing superheroes in the 1960s, and in the 1970s challenged the standards of the Comics Code Authority, indirectly leading to it updating its policies.

  Following his retirement from Marvel, he remained a public figurehead for the company, and frequently made cameo appearances in Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Meanwhile, he continued independent creative ventures into his 90s. Lee was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995. He received a National Medal of Arts in 2008.
